Brief Description

We are looking for Brent borough residents who are interested in completing a Level 2 Painting & Decorating Apprenticeship. The successful candidate will spend 24 months working as a P&D Apprentice as part of the CITB / Flexi-Job Shared Apprenticeship Scheme. Employed by Evolve Apprentices while completing the apprenticeship.

Qualifications Required

English GCSE G/1 or above (or equivalent)
Maths GCSE G/1 or above (or equivalent)

Training to be Provided

Apprentices without level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.

£8.60 - £11.44 (National Minimum Wage for Age)
Statutory Sick and Holiday Pay + Bank Holiday Pay, automatic enrolment into the NEST Pension Scheme, Apprenticeship Oyster Card available for first-year travel discounts, TOTUM Discount Card, and course costs covered by Evolve.
• Working week
Monday-Friday, weekends may be an option. Minimum of 35 paid hours per week but the potential for more. Approx. 8am - 4pm but hours will be confirmed by the contractor after successfully passing the Stage 1 & 2 Interviews.

What will the apprentice be doing?
While all apprenticeships contain a fair amount of labouring, tidying of the work area, and tool fetching, P&D apprentices will also progress into the below tasks.
• Applying paint, stains, varnishes, and other finishes
• Using brushes, rollers, or spraying equipment
• Applying primers and undercoats, or varnishes and glazes
• Laying dust sheets to protect areas from paint
• Preparing surfaces for decorating by filling holes and sealing cracks
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The qualification you would be working for is the Level 2 Painter Decorator (Standard) where we will be looking to partner with a training provider to provide the training.
This training will either be through remote learning or attending college, with paid study time as needed up to 7 hours/1 day per week. You are expected to travel when necessary for the training. You will be responsible for managing/arranging this with your line manager.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Upon completion of this apprenticeship, you can work as a qualified Painter Decorator where, with more experience, you can look to progress into a senior painter decorator position, site/contracts/project management, self-employment, or painting and decorating business owner.
You will be eligible for the Skilled Worker (Blue) CSCS Card after the level 2 qualification.
