Working Week: Monday-Friday, minimum of 35 hours per week but the potential for more. Approx. 8am-4pm, but hours will be confirmed by the Host contractor after successfully passing the Stage 1 & 2 Interviews.
Brief Description
We are looking for Waltham Forest borough residents who are interested in completing a Level 2 Groundworker Apprenticeship. The successful candidate will spend 18 months working as a Groundworks Apprentice as part of the CITB / Flexi-Job Shared Apprenticeship Scheme. Employed by Evolve and placed on site with our clients.
Qualifications Required
English GCSE G/1 or above (or equivalent)
Maths GCSE G/1 or above (or equivalent)

Training to be Provided
Apprentices without level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.
Future Prospects
On completion of this apprenticeship, you can work as a qualified Groundworker worker where, with more experience, you can look to progress or work your way up to a foreman/supervisor position.
This is also a great entry level role into Civil Engineering, and ongoing study in this field. With experience and drive, you could end up as a manager or even run your own company.
You will be eligible for the Skilled Worker (Blue) CSCS Card after the level 2 qualification.

What will the apprentice be doing?
A groundworker is responsible for carrying out a wide range of duties, including:
- Clearing a construction site, providing excavation support to other construction professionals
- Preparing the ground/foundations to allow construction to begin; digging trenches for foundations
- Setting up a site, putting up barriers, safety signs, huts, etc.
- Following all health and safety procedures, and interpreting the use of drawings and specifications
- Laying pavements, kerbs, and driveways; concreting sites
- Removing drainage and pipework systems; redirecting waterways and connecting pipes with existing pipework
Those interested in the Civil Engineering side of construction and who may lack prior learning and experience in this field, this is a great apprenticeship to gain insight into this industry and progress into becoming a Civil Engineer.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The qualification you would gain is the Level 2 Groundworks Apprenticeship (Standard) Qualification where we will be looking to partner with a training providing to provide the training, provider not yet confirmed.
This training will include a paid study day either via remote sessions or in college training, once enrolled, up to 7 hours/1 day per week. This apprenticeship may also be managed via block release, from the National Construction College in Norfolk. You will be responsible to managing/arranging with your line manager.
