What will the apprentice be doing?
As an apprentice curtain walling installer, you will work predominantly in the commercial market but there is a growing market for curtain wall screens on higher end residential projects. Usually manufactured from aluminium, it offers a lightweight framework which is fixed back to the building structure into which a range of infills can be inserted. This infill can be glass, panels, window units, ventilation, and acoustic elements. Systems are available using Timber and Steel. Installation can cover health, education, retail, commercial and leisure sectors and can range from simple single storey retail screens to multi storey, high rise office and residential developments.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The qualification you would be working to is the Level 3 Curtain Wall Installation (Standard) where we will be looking to partner with a college to provide the training.
This training will mainly be through remote learning with a paid study time as needed up to 7 hours/1 day per week. You are expected to travel when necessary though most assessments will be done on site. You will be responsible to managing/arranging with your line manager.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On completion of this apprenticeship, you can work as a qualified Curtain Wall Installer where, with more experience, you can look to progress into a senior position, site/contracts/project management, self-employment, or business owner.
You will be eligible for the Skilled Worker (Blue) CSCS Card after the level 3 qualification.
