Brief Description

We are looking for Hillingdon borough residents who are interested in completing a Level 3 BS Engineering Craftsperson apprenticeship. The successful candidate will spend 36 months working as a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice as part of the CITB / Flexi-Job Shared Apprenticeship Scheme. Employed by Evolve Apprentices.

Qualifications Required

English GCSE C/4 or above (or equivalent)
Maths GCSE C/4 or above (or equivalent)
Valid CSCS Card

Training to be Provided

Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.

Future Prospects

On completion of this apprenticeship, you can work as a qualified Junior Mechanical Engineer where, with more experience, you can look to progress into a senior position, site/contracts/project management, self-employment, or mechanical engineering business owner.

You will be eligible for the Advanced Skilled Worker (Gold) CSCS Card after the Level 3 qualification.

What will the apprentice be doing?

A craftsperson undertakes the planning, installation, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and decommissioning of systems heating, chilled water, hot water, and cold-water systems.

• Planning, designing, monitoring and inspecting systems; designing site-specific equipment as required
• Ensuring that the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements
• Designing systems with the aid of computer-aided design software
• Install and test pipework systems and components for cold water systems, hot water systems, heating systems, and chilled water systems
• Carry out pre-commissioning work, along with de-commissioning and dismantling the system pipework and components

This apprenticeship may involve aspects of Domestic Plumbing work on site, but no gas work.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The qualification you would be working to is the Level 3 Building Services Engineering Craftsperson Apprenticeship (Standard) where we will be looking to partner with a training provider to provide the training.

This training will require you to attend college one day per week, you will be paid 7 hours on the day to do so. During half term breaks, you are to attend site 5 days a week unless you have outstanding assignments. You will be responsible to managing/arranging this with your line manager.
