Vacancy Detail

What will the apprentice be doing?

Bricklayers lay bricks, blocks and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures e.g., chimney stack. They might also refurbish brickwork and masonry on restoration projects.

The main duties and tasks of a Bricklaying Apprentice are:
• General labouring, tidying of site, and tool/equipment fetching
• Mixing and turning mortar, loading boards
• Moving, stacking, and passing bricks
• Laying of bricks and blocks

As with any trade apprenticeship, you will spend up to 6 months doing general work relating to the trade. The quicker you learn these tasks and showcase your work ethic and ability, the quicker you will progress into laying bricks/blocks. The work will be beneficial for adding to your portfolio and skillset.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The qualification you would be working to is the Level 2 Brickwork (Standard) where we will be looking to partner with a training provider for your course work.

This training will require you to attend college either one day a week or block release, and you will be paid a set 7 hours on your college day/s when attending. You are expected to travel when necessary for training and/or assessments. You will be responsible to managing/arranging with your line manager.
