What will the apprentice be doing?
Alongside general labouring, formworkers are responsible for using casts to form concrete slabs, support beams and walls, to support the building process during construction.
- Assisting carpenters initially with a view to becoming a formwork carpenter
- Striking / dismantling formwork and falsework
- Building structures on site using wood or putting together pre-made metal frames
- Dismantling casts without damaging them, so that they can be used again
- Must be comfortable working at height, will be trained to do so
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The qualification you would gain is the Level 2 Formworker (Standard) where we will be looking to partner with a training providing to provide the training, provider not yet confirmed.
This training will include a paid study day, once enrolled, up to 7 hours/1 day per week. You are expected to travel when necessary for training and/or assessments. You will be responsible to managing/arranging with your line manager.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On completion of this apprenticeship, you can work as a qualified Junior Formworker where, with more experience, you can look to progress into a senior formwork position or work your way up to a foreman/supervisor position. With experience and drive, you could end up as a manager or even run your own company.
You will be eligible for the Skilled Worker (Blue) CSCS Card after the level 2 qualification
