Working Week: Monday-Friday, weekends may be an option. Minimum of 35 hours per week but the potential for more. Approx. 8 am-5 pm but hours will be confirmed by the contractor after successfully passing the Stage 1 & 2 Interview.
Brief Description
We are looking for Newham borough residents who are interested in completing a Level 2 Bricklaying apprenticeship. The successful candidate will spend 30 months working as a Brickwork Apprentice as part of the CITB Shared Apprenticeship and Flexi-Job Scheme. Employed by Evolve Apprentices while earning a wage
Qualifications Required
English GCSE G/1 or above (or equivalent)
Maths GCSE G/1 or above (or equivalent)
Personal Qualities
Reliable, eager to learn, patient

Training to be Provided
Apprentices without level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.
Future Prospects
You can progress into a Level 3 Advanced Bricklaying qualification or seek work as a qualified Trainee Bricklayer where, with more experience, you can look to progress into a senior bricklaying position, site/contracts/project management, self-employment, or brickwork business owner.
You will be eligible for the CSCS Skilled Workers (Blue) Card on completion of the apprenticeship.
Vacancy Detail
Bricklayers lay bricks, blocks and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures e.g., chimney stack. They might also refurbish brickwork and masonry on restoration projects.
The main duties and tasks of a Bricklaying Apprentice are:
• General labouring, tidying of site, and tool/equipment fetching
• Mixing and turning mortar, loading boards
• Moving, stacking, and passing bricks
• Laying of bricks and blocks
As with any trade apprenticeship, you will spend up to 6 months doing general work relating to the trade. The quicker you learn these tasks and showcase your work ethic and ability, the quicker you will progress into laying bricks/blocks. The work will be beneficial for adding to your portfolio and skillset.
